Thoughts on the Run:

Today's run almost didn't happen.

We had a great time at church. We were up early and there for our Sunday school class at 9:15. The service started at 10:30. Buddy Greene surprised us with some great praise music before the service, and our pastor for the day was none other than Mike Huckabee! (I believe they may post the sermon online at the Church of the Apostles website - just check the bottom of the main page).

After the service, I volunteered to help out with Mr. Huckabee's book signing, and received a signed copy of his book Do the Right Thing.

We had a splurge meal at Cracker Barrel. By this time, the weather was foul: wet and cold. I don't mind running in the rain, and I don't mind running in the cold, but the cold rain is my least favorite. So, I had decided to swap my longer run with a short treadmill workout and "relax."

We're considering a move closer to the city, so we looked at a few potential spots before returning home. As we pulled into our neighborhood, the clouds parted and the sun came shining through. I knew I was called to do my full run, so I laced up, drank a few glasses of water, and set out.

The run started out at 50 degrees but was drizzle with closer to lose 40s when I was through. This is the longest run so far during this training phase, but what really was exciting to me was that I was able to run it nonstop. No matter how steep or tough the hill, I dug in, gritted my teeth, and kept on going.

So, another run to check off and on schedule for my third week. Going strong! The best part about today's run? It's DONE!

Warmly,

Jeremy Likness
